Co-funded by Shandong Provincial Government and the National Tourism Administration, Shandong College of Tourism & Hospitality (SCTH) was founded in 1988. Under the supervision of the Provincial Education Department and in particular the Provincial Tourism Administration, SCTH is a full-time, public institution of higher education.
With a dedication to the pursuit of excellence, SCTH offers unique learning experiences and practical trainings across a broad spectrum of the hospitality industry. Its seven faculties, i.e. Hotel Management, Travel Agency Management, Foreign Languages for Tourism, Leisure & Recreation Industry Management, Nutrition and Culinary Art, General Education and Computer Networking Center provide 21 special concentrations for some 6500 on-campus students.
Built against a picturesque hilly setting and covering a total area of 66.7 hectares, the campus is acclaimed as one of Jinan City’s “Garden-like Courtyards”. Sitting at the center of Jinan City’s university town, the college enjoys advantageous location and easy transportation.
With an international vision and a school motto of “Happiness is our business”, SCTH devotes itself to helping the students “learn to know, learn to do, learn to live together and learn to be”.?The college commits itself to becoming a cradle for modern tourism elites; it is top-ranked nationwide and is recognized worldwide. By adhering to the idea of humanism, ecology, digitalization and internationalization, its operational capability and brand value has been steadily elevated to one new high after another. In Oct. 2009, the ivy club for Chinese higher vocational tourism education, the “Five-star League of Chinese Tourism Colleges”, was co-established by SCTH and the other four renowned tourism colleges.
SCTH stands out in its kind in terms of amenities and facilities: there are fully-equipped administration and teaching buildings, a library, refectories, dormitories, multi-functional sports ground, basketball and volleyball courts; and further more, avant-garde training gyms, simulative guestrooms, restaurants, tour-guiding rooms and airplane cabins, a British-style bar, culinary labs, an aviation software room, a professional make-up teaching room, international-standard tennis courts, outdoor rock-climbing walls and a students’ service center. The college also takes pride in its international-standard training golf course, the beautiful 40,000-square-meter campus and the all-covering WLAN. Baichuan (or Thousand Rivers) Hotel, as the only 4-star school-owned training hotel in China, is well known for its “academic-style” service. In brief, SCTH is the only tourism college in China to own a 4-star hotel, to run a fully-qualified international travel agency, to have a training golf course, and to publish a popular travel magazine.
The highly qualified faculty is more than 300 strong and is made up of three parts: experts with rich experience in the hospitality industry (many of whom have studied abroad), accomplished general education teachers, and foreign language teachers from the U.S., Japan, South Korea and France. Courses and curricula are meticulously designed and the endeavor has been paid off handsomely: Applied Tour-guiding is included in the “National Quality Curricula” program; Hotel Management and Tourism English are listed in the provincial “special programs”; The Hotel Management Teaching & Research Division ranks as one of the “Top Provincial Teaching Teams”.
For many years, in order to better prepare the students to fit into the global economy and to meet the demand of the market, the college has been sparing no effort to build long-term and stable cooperative relations with the following prestigious establishments:

The world’s largest hotel groups, the InterContinental, established its IHG Academy in the college. Moreover，the college has forged close partnerships with Britain’s Bournemouth & Poole College; France’s La Rochelle Business School and Gastronomicom International Culinary Academy; South Korea’s Shinheung College, Gimcheon University, Hanbuk University and the Institute for Resources Evaluation; and Singapore Cuisine Training Institute. The students may choose from programs co-offered by SCTH and the above institutions, namely, through the programs of “2+1”(2 years in SCTH, 1 year overseas) and “2+2”(2 years in SCTH, 2 year overseas), they hopefully may earn double degrees, or overseas bachelor’s degrees, or even master’s degrees thereafter. The precious learning and working experience give the students a special edge in the human resource market. As a result, our students are the most sought-after prospect employees upon graduation. Over the years, not a few of our distinguished alumni have become corporate leaders and executives in the industry of hospitality.
SCTH is a standing executive member of China Tourism Association (CTA) and one of the deputy directors to the education division of CTA. In the course of time, the college has founded under its banner a series of affiliated enterprises including a magazine---Traveling World, Shandong Tourism Research Center, Shandong Tourism Training Center, Shandong Wine Training Center, and Shandong Sailing International Travel Service.
For years, SCTH has earned for itself myriads of awards and honors. In Aug. 2010, SCTH was honored to receive from the Provincial Educational Department the Award of “Exemplary Higher Vocational Institute”.
